Question shopping for a new dvd player

I'm fairly sure I've managed to kill another one. sigh.

Looks like I'll be shopping for a new dvd player in the very new future. Very limited budget. Any suggestions?

Be careful with Phillips. While outstanding in features, playback capability and ease of use, I churned through one about every 6 months before I switched to HD/Blu-Ray. These were the DVP642 models, without upconvert, but it's possible the newer models are the same. Absolutely great until they die, and all of mine that have passed would play a movie great until about 1:30-1:45 in, then start skipping/not loading. You can imagine how pissed you get when you can't watch the last 5-45 minutes of a movie.

As for what DVD Player you should get? I'm sorry, but I haven't an idea. I switched to HD-DVD in fall before they crapped out, and then Blu-Ray with PS3, so I've been out of the market for awhile. That being said, the best DVD player I've had (and still own, working, after 6+ years and a few moves) is my Pioneer DV-434. That thing is solid as a rock.

thanks for the advice - i've found that other people have had some of the same problems with my player that I'm having now (samsung ht-p38) - it's not playing dvds but plays cds just fine.
I did the reset - and it seems to be functioning again - lets see if we can actually finish a movie!

if this doesn't work - I'm definately looking into a cheap unit until I can do something better...
